When You Thought I Wasn't Looking..

I have always liked this poem by Mary Korzan, because it showed how subliminal our actions can be.

I thought of sharing it for those who have not read it, or haven’t read it in a while. ‘When you thought I wasn’t looking, you….’

“When you thought I wasn’t looking
You hung my first painting on the refrigerator
And I wanted to paint another.

When you thought I wasn’t looking
You fed a stray cat
And I thought it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn’t looking
You baked a birthday cake just for me
And I knew that little things were special things.

When you thought I wasn’t looking
You said a prayer
And I believed there was a God that I could always talk to.

When you thought I wasn’t looking
You kissed me goodnight
And I felt loved.

When you thought I wasn’t looking
I saw tears come from your eyes
And I learned that sometimes things hurt
But that it’s all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn’t looking
You smiled
And it made me want to to look that pretty too.

When you thought I wasn’t looking
You cared
And I wanted to be everything I could be.

When you thought I wasn’t looking
I looked
And I wanted to say thanks

For all the things you did
When you thought I wasn’t looking.”

The phrase, “Children Learn What They Live,” has never been more accurate.
They will learn the beautiful things in life by example, but they will also learn the ugly things, too.

Children learn from what we do, and not what we say.
Those eyes and ears are always on high alert — not just when we think it’s a teaching moment.

And it’s not only the children, but also everyone in our life, our friends, our family, our clients, our employees, our bosses, our neighbours – everyone.
We feel that our small acts may have gone unnoticed; but no, even if there is no reaction, people notice how you behave, what you do & how you make them feel and that becomes the basis of the relationship.

Everything is noticed,
An unkempt promise,
A deadline not met,
An unkind word,
The door not held open,
Your presence & words at the time of joy & sorrow,
Your sharing, your giving, your caring & your daring.

Each of us as parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, teacher or friend influence the life of someone with our words and action.

How will you touch the life of someone today?

Be a good example & stay blessed forever.
