When things go bad in your life, it’s easy to think ‘Why me?’
Why do I have a rubbish job?
Why is my relationship not working?
Why did I lose my phone? Why is my family so difficult?
Why am I sick?
Why do people treat me poorly?
Why did my car break down?
Why didn’t I get that job?
Why do I have financial worries?
Why is MY life so difficult?
Life is non-discriminatory
Is it discriminatory to the zebra that gets caught by the lion?
Is it discriminatory to the fish that got caught in the net?
Is it discriminatory to the tree that got uprooted by the wind?
No, in nature, nothing is ‘personal’.
But, if existence is non-discriminatory, then why NOT you?
No one of us is more special than the other.
Bad things can & do happen to all of us, the chance of it is there for us all.
So, why not you, sometimes?
Arthur Ashe, was a former World No. 1 professional tennis player & won three Grand Slam titles
In 1979, Ashe suffered a heart attack & underwent a quadruple bypass operation,
an event that surprised the public in view of his high level of fitness as an athlete.
In 1983, Ashe underwent a second round of heart surgery.
In 1988, Ashe fell ill and discovered he had contracted HIV during the blood transfusions he had received during his second heart surgery, which ultimately led to his death.
In the last year of his life, Ashe did much to call attention to AIDS sufferers worldwide & founded the ‘Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health’ & was named Sports Illustrated magazine’s Sportsman of the Year.
From the world over, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed: “Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease?”
To this Arthur Ashe replied:
“All over the world, 50 million children start playing tennis, 5 million learn to play tennis, 500,000 learn professional tennis, 50,000 come to the circuit, 5000 reach the grand slam, 50 reach Wimbledon, 4 to the semi-final, 2 to the finals.
When I was holding a cup, I never asked GOD ‘Why me?’
And today in pain I should not be asking GOD ‘Why me?’
Happiness keeps you, Sweet,
Trials keep you Strong,
Sorrow keeps you Human,
Failure keeps you humble
and Success keeps you glowing,
But only Faith and attitude Keeps you going.
What a wonderful way to live life and never question Why Me?
Here’s something else to think about if life doesn’t discriminate with the ‘bad’ stuff, then it wouldn’t discriminate for the good stuff either.
So, why NOT you, for that stuff too?
Bask in the possibility of that and stay Blessed forever.
