A farmer had a dog who used to sit by the roadside waiting for vehicles to come.
As soon as one came he would run, barking and trying to overtake it.
One day a neighbor asked, “Do you think your dog is ever going to catch a car?”
The farmer replied, “That is not what bothers me. What bothers me is what he would do if he ever caught one.”
Many people behave like that dog who is pursuing meaningless goals.
How strange it is…
We wish to earn loads of money, but we had the best of times only when we had just 10 bucks in our pocket…
We wish to wear the best brands, but we feel most comfortable in pajama pants.
We wish to visit the best 5 * Hotels, but we enjoy the roadside tea with childhood friends the most.
We wish to own big cars and go on long drives yet we talk our heart out only while walking down a long road.
We have 64GB iPods filled with songs, but sometimes a song on the radio brings a smile that can’t be compared.
Life is simple indeed…
We make it complex by running after what never gives us joy.
Love life. Take note of small things.
Go for life’s small prizes, a hug from our best friend, a pat on the back from parents, a short nap on a friend’s shoulder, a glorious sunset, a chat with a loved one, holding hands, a smile on your child’s face, a moonlit night on the terrace, a sky full of brightly lit stars, a slow walk on an empty road with whom we Love,
Slow down! Take time to appreciate nature, enjoy the monsoon, Chat with a friend, read a chapter from a good book, Savour your favorite Single Malt, listen to an enchanting Ghazal, laugh at a rapturous comedy, spend quality time with family.
There’s more to life than running nonstop.
Sounds wonderful, doesn’t it, I wish I could stop going after meaningless goals and slow down and enjoy all of the above small prizes.
Try it this weekend & stay blessed forever.
