Some jellyfish appear to live forever. Observing this as well as other remarkable phenomena, the co-founders of Google, Sergey Brin and Larry Page, have founded Calico with the primary aim of increasing human lifespan.
In the US, The average life expectancy rose from 70 in 1960 to 79 in 2015. Some researchers expect children of today to live to 120 in the future.
Russian tech mogul Dmitry Itskov, who has founded the “2045 Initiative”, predicts that by 2025, an artificial life-support system for the human brain linked to a robot will allow people whose bodies have worn out to continue living.
Ray Kurzweil, Director of Engineering at Google, sees a time when advances in technology, gains in nutrition and the results of the anti-aging research currently being conducted will “enable humans to live indefinitely.”
It’s all still a little off into the future but let each of us remember Eubie Blake’s idea: “If I’d known I’d live this long I’d have taken better care of myself.”
So beginning today, take even better care of yourself. Produce work that fuels your best self.
Be with people who inspire and rejuvenate you.
Take time to rest, exercise, meditate, walk in nature, keep a journal and study & devour books that reveal new territories of unimaginable possibilities
