The 9-day festival is all about prayers, sattvik food, and devotion towards Maa Durga and her 9 avataars.
The festival marks the arrival of Goddess Durga on Earth, and during these 9 days devotees worship and offer prayers along with special foods to the nine avatars of Goddess Durga.
Many devotees observe a complete or partial fast during Navratri.
This practice is not just about physical abstinence from food, but also about self-control and minimizing external stimuli.
It allows for a deeper focus on the inner self.
Navratri fasting helps turn focus inwards, towards self-purification and spiritual growth. By doing so, devotees aim to connect with the divine on a deeper level and seek blessings from Goddess Durga for strength and guidance.
The Nine day Fasting during Navaratri is all about purification of the soul and self cleansing in the following ways :
Prathama –
I will leave all my Anger
Dwitiya –
I will stop Judging People.
Tritiya –
I will leave all my Grudges.
Chaturthi –
I will forgive myself & everyone
Panchami –
I will Accept myself & every one as they are
Shashti –
I will love myself & everyone unconditionally
Saptami –
I will leave all my feelings of Jealousy & Guilt
Ashtami (Durgaashtami) –
I will leave all my Fears
Navami (Mahanavami) –
I will offer Gratitude for all the things I have and all which I will receive.
Dashami (Vijayadashami) –
There is abundance in the universe for all and I will always tap the same and create what I want through unconditional love, Sadhana, nishkama seva and faith.
