“If we require love, we must try and realize that the only way to get love is by giving it, that the more you give, the more you will get and the only way you can give it is to try and fill yourself with it, until you become a magnet. This is law eternal” ~Gautam Buddha.
If we talk about the literal meaning of Karwa Chauth, it means offering ‘Argya’ to the moon using an earthen pot known as Karwa on the Chaturthi of the Karthika month.
The festival falls on the fourth day of the dark fortnight in the Kartika month every year. Though the origin of this festival is still very hazy, there are some anecdotes associated with it. Some of the popular Karwa Chauth stories are the ones of Queen Veerwati, of Karwa, of Satyavan & Savitri and of Queen Draupadi.
Once Arjuna, the one whom Draupadi loved the most, went to the Nilgiri mountains for self-penalty and penance. The rest of the Pandavas were facing challenges without him. Now, Draupadi remembered Lord Krishna in this situation to ask what should be done to resolve the challenges. Lord Krishna narrated a story of Goddess Parvati who in a similar situation performed the Karwa Chauth rituals. So, Draupadi followed the strict rituals of Karwa Chauth for the well-being of her husband and helped the Pandavas resolve their problems.
The time of this festival coincides with the initiation of the Rabi cropping season. The women of the families fill the earthen pot or Karwa, with wheat grains and offer them to God praying for a great Rabi season.
Another legend states that this festival was started when women started praying for the safe return of their husbands who had gone off to war in faraway lands.
Karva Chauth personifies a day of love, care and commitment and reflects the ethos of the beautiful sentiment of the everlasting bond between a husband and wife.
By the successful completion of this Fast, the woman ensures the long life, well being and prosperity of her husband and the husband gets to understand the perseverance of her Love, thereby ensuring eternal marital bliss.
Love is in the air. Fill yourselves with love.
Love is not what you say, love is what you do.
Just remember that in the end, the love you get is equal to the love you give.
Best wishes to all the Couples on this day!
Give Love to receive love & stay blessed forever.
