‘Don’t Leave nothing for later’

At some point in our life journey, we are all probably guilty of the “I’ll do it after;” of “chasing someday.”

Have you ever said, “Someday I’ll get to that?”  Sure, most of us have.

It is important for us to remember that someday may come in folk tales and fairy tales but in real life, someday is not a given.

Someday is illusive.

It is an indefinite point or time in the future.

If we are depending on getting to something someday, we are missing out on many of our todays.

Instead of pursuing someday, we need to focus our time and energy on today, in the present.

Today is where it is happening!

Life unfolds in the present.

The Roman poet Horace had it right when he said, “Carpe diem!  Rejoice while you are alive; enjoy the day; live life to the fullest; make the most of what you have.  It is later than you think.”

We need to make the most that each day brings us. We need to retain those best moments, best experiences, best friends, best family, And we can do that by working hard to eliminate the ‘afters’ so we leave nothing for later.

I am reminded of these beautiful lines someone shared with me recently from ‘Before the Coffee Gets Cold’ a book by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

“Don’t leave anything for later.

Later, the coffee gets cold.

Later, you lose interest.

Later, the day turns into night.

Later, people grow up.

Later, people grow old.

Later, life goes by.

Later, you regret not doing something…

When you had the chance.”

Life is a fleeting dance, a delicate balance of moments that unfold before us, never to return in quite the same way again.

Regret is a bitter pill to swallow, a weight that bears down upon the soul with the burden of missed chances and unspoken words.

So, let us not leave anything for later.

Let us seize the moments as they come, with hearts open and arms outstretched to embrace the possibilities that lie before us.

For in the end, it is not the things we did that we regret, but the things we left undone, the words left unspoken, the dreams left unfulfilled.

The day is today,

The moment is now.

Don’t  postpone what needs to be done right away & stay blessed forever.
