Direction vs Speed

The biggest risk in life isn’t moving slowly.
It’s moving fast in the wrong direction.

Most people are obsessed with speed:
Get promoted faster,
Grow followers faster,
Double your portfolio faster.

Life has taught me something different,
Imagine boarding the fastest train in the country,
If it’s headed to the wrong city, every minute takes you farther from where you actually want to be.

Life compounds the same way.
A career without purpose.
A business without customers.
An investment without fundamentals.
Contacts without friendship.

Speed never fixes bad decisions, It only compounds them.

Just because you are moving at a high rate of speed, doesn’t mean you are moving toward your intended destination.

I love how author Brian Tracy says it—Never confuse activity with accomplishment.

Feverish plate spinning doesn’t mean you are making progress toward your goals.

After all, real productivity isn’t doing more. It’s doing more of the right thing.

When describing the motion of an object, physicists use two measurements: speed and velocity. Speed is the rate at which an object is moving along a path, while velocity is the rate and direction of an object’s movement. Put simply; velocity has a direction, speed does not.
This is a crucial difference. As the quote goes:

“Direction is so much more important than speed. Many are going nowhere fast.”

The important distinction is that velocity has both speed and direction.

Velocity moves you toward a goal. Speed does not. If you are in a race and you run in a circle, you might move with a lot of speed, but you’re not closer to your destination.
Progress matters more than speed.

What’s one area of your life where slowing down today could help you make a better long-term decision?

Before asking – How fast can I get there?
Ask – Is this the destination I actually want & stay blessed forever.
