I love this three-letter word.
It reminds me of Hope.
It reminds me of positivity.
It reminds me that despite all odds, the goal will be achieved.
Carol Dweck, author of ‘Mindset: The New Psychology of Success,’ conducted years of research about why people succeed or fail and how what she terms the ‘Fixed or Growth mindset’ impacts the outcomes.
Her TED talk, ‘The Power of Believing That You Can Improve’ provides a powerful insight into this concept and it explains the ‘Power of Yet’.
Within the growth mindset approach, Dr. Dweck coined the phrase “the power of yet.”
The notion that adding the word “yet” to the end of a sentence that contains words such as “can’t,” “don’t,” and “doesn’t” can drastically improve the realization that skills can take time to achieve but that it is possible.
Adopt these three letters and the word “Yet” will completely change your life.
Yet is the key to a growth mindset:
“I’m not good enough” becomes “I’m not good enough…yet.”
“I don’t know how to do it” becomes “I don’t know how to do it…yet.”
“I’m not capable of that” becomes “I’m not capable of that…yet.”
“Yet” is your one-word reminder that you can achieve anything that you set your mind to. You are dynamic and capable of so much more than you realize.
The growth mindset and the power of yet can transform the way you approach challenges and setbacks.
By embracing a growth mindset and adding “Yet” to your vocabulary, you can unlock your full potential and achieve things you never thought possible.
So go out there and embrace the power of Yet & you may be surprised by what you can accomplish!
This festive season, forget the excuses, let’s embrace the Yet…
I have all the problems, Yet I will be kind.
I may have priorities, yet I will share.
I may be in need of a lot more, yet I will give.
I may have a hundred reasons to be sad, Yet I will be happy & spread happiness.
I may feel unloved, yet I shall spread love.
Embrace the “yet” this festive season and change your life & someone else’s life & stay blessed forever.
