I wish you enough….

Among many inspirational quotes, “I wish you enough” poem by Bob Perks from ‘Chicken Soup for Grieving Soul’ captured my attention recently.

“When I say I wish you enough,

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how grey the day may appear.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.

I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.

I wish you just enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.

I wish you just enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

And most importantly I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.”

When having more leaves you empty, you’ll discover true happiness lies in enough.

It is a rare sight to see someone being satisfied with what they have. We hardly hear people tell us that they have enough of something. It can be about money, love, friends, abundance, property, or anything else, people are always on the lookout for more. The chase for more and better is unstoppable.

But, the happiest are those who live in the moment, showcase gratefulness, and keep the ego aside.

The meaning of “enough” can be different for everybody. For some, enough is the bare minimum and for some, it can be a lot.

The message of the saying is very simple but at the same time powerful. When we wish this to someone we wish for them to have a life filled with just enough good and bad things and situations so they can experience and appreciate life as much as they can.

A simple lesson but tough to accept. You need to experience the bad, to be able to experience the good.

As parents,  we wish to keep our children away from tough situations. But the truth is that you can’t keep them away from them all the time. The only thing you can do is be there for them when situations arise and help them through it.

With each experience they go through, they build resilience and get better prepared for the future. If you overprotect your child when they are growing up, they won’t be able to resolve their problems when they are grown.

You should always wish others and yourself enough, and learn to be satisfied. Living in the moment and enjoying every second of it, is true bliss. In spirituality, this is called life without ego. We shouldn’t expect life to always work in our favour but we can at least do best with what we have.

We also need to have faith in God’s will and his timing and  that things, in the end, will work out for us. His plan is better than ours.

To all my family, friends and loved ones, ‘I WISH YOU ENOUGH’ for 2022 and beyond.

Stay blessed forever.
