Success is never linear.
We all face failure at some point.
Life is all about handling the peaks & trough.

Resilience is one ability which helps us recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change.

It’s the capacity to adapt to stressful situations and bounce back from adversity.

Resilience is a concept that’s spoken about all the time, but I think its importance is actually undersold.

People think resilience is just about not giving up, but it’s much more than that. It’s about bouncing back, adapting, learning, and growing from setbacks even stronger than before.

Ultimately, if you don’t learn from your mistakes, you might as well give up.

Over the years, I’ve gone to some lengths to try & increase my resilience.

I’ve come across 6 methods in particular that I have found most useful & effective and are as follows:

1. Goggins 40% Rule

Your mind will be the first thing to give up and therefore you must embrace the uncomfortable. When your mind is saying ‘stop’, that means you have only reached 40%. Keep going.

2. Cognitive Reframing

Simply put, your outlook on life shapes your thoughts. Cognitive reframing means Identifying negative thoughts as they occur and countering them with a positive one.

3. Premadtio Malorum

This stoic rule encourages you to prepare for the worst by visualisation. Visualise the worst-case scenario to reduce anxiety and stress around it. Essentially, be aware of what could happen, and how you would manage it.

4. McGonigal’s Stress Response

McGonigal says that when faced with stress – transform it into a powerful ally. Choose to see problems as a challenge to overcome rather than a threat.

5. Stockdale Paradox

Face the brutal truth, but never lose faith in your abilities. Acknowledge your situation and maintain faith in your eventual success. You should see it as rising to the challenge.

6. The 5×5 Rule

Don’t sweat the small stuff and adopt a more long-term mindset. If it won’t matter in 5 years, don’t spend more than 5 minutes upset over it.

Learn to build resilience to face the inevitable downturns, life will throw up & stay blessed forever.
